The Adirondack Mountains provide one of the most spectacular scenic hiking trails systems in the nation. The dense forest mantling the High Peaks, the wetlands and rolling hills of the Central Adirondacks, the ten thousand miles of rivers and streams winding their way to somewhere, major lakes and secret ponds everywhere, incredible views at nearly every turn - it's hiking at its best, whether you are an experienced trekker, or a Sunday stroller.
There are many Adirondack hiking trails within a short drive from our campground. We have listed several hikes that are popular with our campers.
Hackensack Mountain
Distance from Campground - 2 miles
Entrance on Horicon Avenue in Warrensburg. Scenic mountain with great views. Mild hike in just an hour or two.
Prospect Mountain
Distance from Campground - 7 miles
Entrance trailhead on Montcalm Street in Lake George Village. Modest climb to 2030' summit. Spectacular views of the Adirondack High Peaks, Green Mountains (Vermont), and White Mountains(New Hampshire). Note: There is also a road leading to the top of Prospect for those who are not hiking.
Crane Mountain
Distance from Campground - 11 miles
Entrance off Garnet Lake Road. Two trails from DEC maintained trailhead provide easy access to moderate hikes to top of 3254' mt, topped with pristine lake and spectacular views.
Tongue Mountain
Distance from Campground - 12 miles
Entrance points on Rt 9N north of Bolton Landing. Moderate to moderately difficult state maintained trails.
Buck Mountain
Distance from Campground - 14 miles
Entrance points on east shore of Lake George and Washington County. Overlooks Lake George from the east shore. Moderate trails with spectacular views of Lake George and the Adirondacks.
Black Mountain
Distance from Campground - 19 miles
Entrance points in Pilot Knob and several in Washington County. Overlooks Lake George from the east shore. Varying degrees of trails with spectacular views of Lake George and the Adirondacks.
