Black Hills Camaro Rally

In 2025, the Black Hills Camaro Club decided to move the event 16 miles, from Sturgis to Spearfish, SD.

Kool Deadwood Nights

Kool Deadwood Nites brings car lovers together for six days full of classic cars, classic music and classic fun. It's a 50's and 60's sock hop – Deadwood style. • Your vehicle must be a '73 or older to register. Registration is not capped, and walk-ups are welcome.
  
• Pre-registration forms will be posted online in early May. After that date, if you would like a packet mailed to you, please call 605-578-1876, option 3.  Pre-registration ends on August 13, 2026. Walk-up registration will be available at the event. The number of cars is not capped.
  
• To receive the early bird discount, the registration fee must be paid/postmarked before July 31, 2026.
  
• Car registration cost: $90 postmarked or paid by July 31, 2026; $120 on or after August 1, 2026
  
• An additional day of activities, live entertainment, show & shine, and registration on Tuesday, August 18!
  
• Free Parking & Shuttle: Shuttles operate on Thursday, August 20; Friday, August 21, and Saturday, August 22. Parking shuttle from Lead, pickups at the Lead-Deadwood High School (320 South Main Street, Lead) and Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center (160 West Main Street), and drops off at the Deadwood Fire Station (737 Main Street). Operating times for the Lead shuttle will be 2 pm – 3 am. Ride the shuttle from Cedar Rose Spa (1 mile north of Deadwood, 11842 Hwy 14a) to the Deadwood Welcome Center (501 Main Street). Operating times for the spa shuttle are 11 am to 10 pm each day. No trailer parking at shuttle sites. No overnight parking at Cedar Rose Spa.

Custer State Park Buffalo Roundup

Feel the thunder at the 61st Annual Custer State Park Buffalo Roundup on Friday, September 25, 2026. Watch cowboys, cowgirls and park staff as they round up and drive the herd of approximately 1,300 buffalo. Be sure to plan for plenty of time at the three-day Arts Festival, September 24-26, where more than 100 vendors will offer fine arts and crafts and South Dakota made products. (On Friday, parking lots open at 6:15 a.m. Early arrival is recommended.) There is no admission to the Roundup or the Arts Festival, but a park entrance license is required September 24 and 26 (it is not required September 25).

Leading Ladies Marathon & Half Marathon

This all-woman marathon follows a gentle downhill journey through Spearfish Canyon from Lead to Spearfish. It is scenic, serene, and spectacular.The 26.2-mile full marathon started at Lead Country Club. Runners in the 13.1-mile half marathon started just north of Savoy.The Leading Ladies Marathon course is USATF-certified and is a qualifier for the world-famous Boston Marathon. Marathon and half marathon races end a weekend that includes a writer's workshop, guest speakers, and shorter road races for other runners.

Wild Bill Days

Celebrate the life and times of Deadwood's most famous gunslinger—Wild Bill Hickok at Wild Bill Days. See your favorite bands perform live concerts all weekend long. THE 2026 JAM IS FREE!Deadwood Jam 2026 Details:The Jam's always been a premier outdoor music festival in the region, and this year it will be on display for all at no charge. Join us in Deadwood, September 18 & 19. The 36th Annual Deadwood Jam will kick off on Friday, September 18, with the annual Art and Jam Live Auction at Outlaw Square. Bid on an array of art, from sculptures to paintings and photography by local Black Hills artists. The Silent auction is Saturday, September 19, at Outlaw Square. The silent auction's highest bidders will be announced from the main stage on Saturday.

Pine Island Gravel Odyssey

The Fools Gold Gravel Grinder: This is the shortest ride in our Gold Rush race and is a great place to start if you are new to gravel endurance riding/racing. This ride is all about the fun and challenge of just finishing, and everyone who makes the cut-offs and crosses the finish line will get a Fools Gold finishers award!  In the Fools Gold, we give you more time to finish the race, with a generous 7mph average needed to make the first checkpoint/aid station. This route may be our shortest in distance, but don't let it 'Fool ya', as it is a challenging 45 mile, single-loop course. It consists of 3,800 ft of climbing and will be a challenge, no matter your fitness level.  The 5 mile lead out, and last 13 miles down Spearfish Canyon, are the only pavement on the course. 
 The Gold Dust Gravel Grinder: This ride is all about the fun and challenge of just finishing, and everyone who makes the cut-offs, makes the check-point, and crosses the finish line will get a Gold Dust finishers award!  In the Gold Dust, we give you more time to reach each checkpoint, than the more difficult Gold Rush and Mother Lode routes.  This route is a challenging 70 mile, single-loop course. The 5 mile lead out, and last 13 miles down Spearfish Canyon, are the only pavement on the course.  There is 4,500+ ft. of steady climbing on this course and it is a challenge, no matter your fitness level. The Gold Rush Gravel Grinder is the Black Hills Premier Gravel Road Race. It is a  110 mile long, single-loop route that will take you through the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. The event is intended to be a fun, yet challenging, endurance gravel road race/ride that will use open public-access gravel and dirt roads, through the Black Hills National forest and into Wyyyooommming!  The course will consist of mostly gravel, some dirt, possible mud, and a bit of pavement (gasp!), while rolling over open prairie, meandering through beautiful canyons with flowing creeks, exploring the deep forest, and  climbing to several spectacular vistas. This race is intended for people familiar to gravel riding that can average a minimum 10mph pace. This is a semi-supported race due to limited access to water and cell reception, with over 7,000 ft. of climbing! The Mother Lode: If you are into more of a self supported, ultra endurance, adventure type of race, then this is the race for you!  The Mother Lode race is not for beginners, as it is a very challenging ride.  You must have completed the Gold Rush Race, or a similar race of at least 100 miles, before registering for this event! It is an ultra, 210 mile ride that will take you on a tour through both the Northern and Southern Black Hills of South Dakota.

Deadwood 3 Wheeler Rally

This 5-day 3-Wheeler event will be based out of Historic Deadwood, SD at the Deadwood Event Complex (a.k.a. Rodeo Grounds) with daily destination rides to sites in and throughout the Black Hills area.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION.  Other activities for the week include vendors, socials/BBQ, entertainment, Trike Show n' Shine, poker runs, awards night, trike parade, music, trike games of skill, charitable fundraising and more!  Each registrant receives an event patch, pin, and discount coupons for food, gaming, and admission to local and area attractions. An event wristband provides admission to the 3 Wheeler Central socials, event vendors, Trike Show n Shine, Poker Runs, Trike Games, and other activities associated with the event. The public is welcome to walk through the vendor area at no charge.

Mickelson Trail Marathon

COURSE INFO - The Deadwood Mickelson Trail Marathon is a point to point course, beginning in the hamlet of Rochford, the first 1.5 miles are on the road.  At this point, the course becomes the Mickelson Trail. The next 12 miles are a mixture of gentle uphill and flat terrain. From there to mile 19 is downhill, From 19.6 to about 20, there is a serious downhill… it's runable, but you have to be careful not to become a “runaway.” From this point to the end, the course is either downhill or flat and finishes at the historic Engine House at end of the line…the Deadwood Trailhead.

40th Annual Spring Volksmarch

40th Annual Spring Volksmarch - Saturday, June 6, 2026 - One Day Only The Crazy Horse Volksmarch is the most popular organized hike in the United States (15,000 walkers in a record year). This family event is sponsored by the Black Hills Chapter of the American Volkssport Association (AVA) and hosted by Crazy Horse Memorial®. The Memorial partners with KOTA Territory's Care and Share Food Drive so that each hiker's individual admission to the Memorial is waived with a donation of 3 canned foods (Volkssport registration still applies - see below for more Cost/Registration information). Hikers follow dirt trails and gravel work roads up to the Crazy Horse Mountain Carving. The turn-around point is on the Arm of Crazy Horse directly in front of the nine-story-high face, which was completed June 3, 1998. Hikers get an up-close view of the mountain. Work continues on the rest of what will be the largest sculpture in the world. The Laughing Water Restaurant at Crazy Horse opens for breakfast at 6 a.m. during the Volksmarch, and serves lunch and dinner. The snack shop also is open. Coffee is always free at Crazy Horse Memorial®. The bi-annual Crazy Horse Volksmarch (an organized hike) is a 5K or 10K (6.2 miles round trip) woodlands ramble to the world's largest mountain carving in progress in the southern Black Hills of South Dakota. The Spring Volksmarch in 2026 will only be the first Saturday of June.

Cost Admission to Crazy Horse Memorial® will be waived with 3 cans of food per hiker. The American Volkssport Association's hike fee is $4 (cash or check, no credit cards accepted) for each participant regardless of age. Regular admission applies to non-hikers or hikers without food. ParkingFREE. Due to the popularity of the event, parking can be some distance from the starting point and not on paved or gravel surfaces. Shuttle buses operate between these outlying parking lots and the start/finish area. Registration No advance registration. Hikers must check in at starting point, which is at the Memorial's upper parking area. Registration will begin at 7:00 am. Hikers must register before 1 p.m. and be off the trail by 4 p.m. No late starts. Starting times Anytime between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.

104 Years Of award winning Rodeo! Since 1998, the Days of '76 Rodeo has been honored with the Rodeo Committee of the Year award 19 times. The Days of '76 is also a 16-time winner of the Badlands Circuit Rodeo of the Year award and was inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in July 2011. Most recently the Days of 76 was recognized as one of the top 5 PRCA Large Outdoor Rodeo of the Year nominees in 2024!

Spearfish Canyon Half Marathon and 5K

Run/walk for the CASA cause.The 39th Annual Spearfish Canyon Half Marathon & 5K Run/Walk was held on Saturday, July 12, 2025. We had a record-breaking year with 576 registered participants from 33 states and Poland. Please consider joining us to celebrate our 40th race anniversary on July 11, 2026. Registration will open in January.The HALF MARATHON is a road race down the beautiful Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway featuring limestone canyon walls blanketed with coniferous and deciduous trees along Spearfish Creek. Runners begin in Savoy at 7 AM and follow Highway 14A, Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway, to the Spearfish City Park.The 5K starts and ends in the Spearfish City Park. Runners follow the road through the campground, connect with the bike path to the canyon parking lot, then head down the scenic byway, reconnect with the bike path, and end in the park.
