Amenities and Recreation
At the Alamosa KOA, everyone is welcome. We pride ourselves on creating a family-friendly atmosphere, with events like ice cream socials, rocket launches, an annual chili cook-off, and celebrations for major holidays.
If your visit doesn't fall on a holiday weekend, not to worry, there's still plenty to do! Our heated pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and our fleet of pedal karts comes in several sizes. So, grab your family and head out onto the pedal kart course for some fun and a little friendly competition.
When your legs tire from the pedal karts, let the kids enjoy some time on the playground, shooting some hoops, or playing cornhole. Picnic tables and pavilions are conveniently located near recreational areas, so parents can rest while still keeping an eye on their children.
Our Alamosa campground offers everything you need for your next vacation. Guests have access to a variety of on-site amenities, including a 24-hour laundry facility, 50-amp service sites, and a fully-stocked camping and RV supply store. We will also deliver a fresh, hot Hunt Brothers Pizza, firewood, and ice…right to your doorstep.
The Alamosa/Great Sand Dunes KOA staff considers our pets part of the family. We welcome your furry friends and do not restrict certain breeds. Pets must remain on a leash when not romping in Kamp K9. We are working on a new and improved area for dogs. Stay tuned for this exciting announcement!

Summerfest on the Rio was started in 2001 as a way to promote the San Luis Valley's eclectic arts and crafts community. Since then, the annual festival has been held along the winding Rio Grande each year on the first full weekend of June, a kick-off to summertime in Alamosa's spacious and picturesque Cole Park. The fun begins Friday night with Summerfest's signature Concert in the Park. On Saturday morning, visitors return for delicious food, entertainment, and activities provided by more than 150 vendors and food booths around the park. On Sunday, Summerfest hosts a morning outdoor praise and worship service featuring local Christian bands - a special way to begin a Sunday with neighbors and friends. Summerfest Weekend is jam-packed with live entertainers with something for everyone; rock and roll, bluegrass, jazz, Mariachi bands, country, belly dancers, jugglers and more.

The Early Iron Festival is your chance to see over 500 vintage vehicles painstakingly restored, heavily modified, or gently used. Take in the sunshine and sights as you explore machinery of yesteryear. The rodders encircle Cole Park early Saturday morning looking forward to a day of talking, swapping, and catching up with old friends. Car buffs from Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Kansas swarm the park, oohing and aahing, choosing their favorite and trading stories about their first car. After an enjoyable day in the autumn sun, the Early Iron Club hosts a rodders banquet to a capacity crowd of 650. Food and beverages are available the main day of the event throughout the park.
