The Days of '76, which also includes parades on Deadwood's Historic Main Street, has been a staple each summer in Deadwood for 97 years. And since 1998, Deadwood has been honored as the rodeo committee of the year 17 times, the first four in the Small Outdoor Rodeo category and all eleven of the Medium Rodeo Committee awards since that category was created in 2004. Deadwood is also a 13-time winner of the Badlands Circuit Rodeo of the Year Award (1998-2010) . The committee has increased the prize money 600 percent over the last 22 years and in July 2011 the Days of 76 Committee was inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame.

This point to point course marathon, or half marathon, which begins in the old mining town of Rochford and ends at the Trailhead in Deadwood for both events. Run annually, the event attracts world-class runners and locals too on 23.2 miles of the beautiful backwoods of the Black Hills National Forest. Bus travel is provided from Deadwood to the start line, and starts for both races at 8am.

SPECIAL EVENT CANCELLATION POLICY:
For special events (Fourth of July 2nd - July 5th 2026, Sturgis Bike Rally Aug 5th - Aug.16th 2026 & Kool Deadwood Nights Car Show Aug. 18th - Aug. 23rd 2026) we will have the following rules in place for making and cancelling your reservation for these high demand events.
1) For guests who have not stayed at our campground before for these events, you will be required to pay for the full stay when you make the booking online or over the phone. If you have stayed at our campground before please call us at (605) 578-3830 to make your reservation. Returning customers will be required to pay half of their stay at the time of booking.
2) If you cancel your reservation between September 27, 2025 and May 31, 2026 you will be charged a $100 cancellation fee. You will need to call the campground at (605) 578-3830 to cancel. Cancellations after June 1, 2026 will result in the customer being charged for their full stay. There will be no exceptions to this rule.
Deadwood has many Special Events throughout the summer. For the events listed below you will be required to pay the full stay at the time of booking. The cancellation policy will follow the national policy for KOA:
- 7 days prior for Tents, and RV's, a $20 fee will be charged.
- 14 days prior for Lodges, Camping Cabins, and Covered Wagons, a $20 fee will be charged.
Any cancelation that occurs inside the 7 or 14 day window will result in NO REFUND and you will be charged the full stay fee.
