4th Annual Juneteenth Family Fest Charleston 2024

The 4th Annual Juneteenth Family Fest is a community-family-based event will take place at the Riverfront Park in North Charleston, SC, and is open to the public. You can arrive as early as 2 pm, and festivities will begin at 3 pm.
This day-long celebration will be power-packed with activities ranging from live performances, black art displays, games for children, and delicious cultural food! There will also be non-profit organizations, local community service vendors, as well as Historical Black Colleges and Universities on site. The day will end with a fireworks display.

Grand Opening - Medal of Honor Museum at Patriots Point

The Medal of Honor Museum at Patriots Point reopens with a celebration on May 25, 2024! The Museum, located onboard the USS Yorktown, at Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum in Mount Pleasant, SC, is the national home to the Medal of Honor, the Recipients who wear it, and the values inherent in the Medal – courage, commitment, integrity, sacrifice, citizenship, and patriotism.
Designed to bring the Recipients' stories to life, the all-new immersive exhibits will take guests back in time to the Civil War through the War on Terrorism to highlight select Medal of Honor Recipients. Each section of the Museum features interactive activities and stories of heroism. Reflect on their stories and then build your own.
Guests who visit on the first day of opening, May 25, will get the chance to meet a Medal of Honor Recipient, interact with Living History Actors showcasing military life from the Civil War to the Vietnam War, visit food trucks, and participate in a raffle drawing for “Friends of the Fleet”, passes good for one year's admission to Patriots Point, Medal of Honor and Medal of Honor Museum and Patriots Point swag.

Floppin' Flounder 5K

Floppin' Flounder 5K is one of Charleston's favorite races. Presented by the Charleston Running Club (CRC), with help from the Sullivan's Island Fire & Rescue Dept., this race has had a loyal following for over 25 years. They offer a 5K Run, Walk and a virtual option for those who cannot attend. Proceeds from Floppin' Flounder benefit the Sullivan's Island Fire & Rescue Dept., CRC, and the Charleston Animal Society.

Atlantic Cup Race - Leg 1
Starts: 05/25/2024 - Ends: 05/25/2024
For the first time since 2018, the Atlantic Cup will take place May 25 - June 7, 2024. The Atlantic Cup is the longest offshore race in the Western Atlantic and is the only US race dedicated to the Class40. The 2024 edition will start from Charleston, South Carolina on May 25, 2024 and culminate the weekend of June 7 in Portland, Maine.
The 2024 course will bring teams back to Newport, Rhode Island for the first time since 2013. Leg 1 will start in Charleston, South Carolina with a 704-nautical mile race to Newport. The race will stop-over in Newport before departing on a 250-nautical mile race to Portland, Maine. The Atlantic Cup will culminate in Portland, June 6-7, with a two-day coastal series.

It's time again for one of the area's most wholesome, family-friendly events - Ladybug Day at Magnolia Plantation & Gardens. Ladybug release is included with your admission to Magnolia and can be purchased online ahead of time!
Did you know that ladybugs are one of nature's top garden protectors?
Help us release ladybugs into our gardens, enjoy crafts, games and snacks, interact with wildlife and learn about lowcountry ecosystems!
Kids are encouraged to come dressed up in a ladybug costume. Make sure to pack bug spray, sunscreen and water, as many activities will be outside!

4th of July Fireworks Blast - Patriots Point

Celebrate the USA at the most patriotic spot in South Carolina! Patriots Point is hosting a July 4th celebration, featuring food trucks, fireworks, and live music. From 6-10 p.m., guests are invited to a landside party. This will include live music, access to more than a dozen food trucks, and a fireworks show after sundown. This event does not require tickets. Parking for the day will be $20 per vehicle.

20th Annual Sweetgrass Festival

The annual Sweetgrass Festival in Mount Pleasant, founded in 2004, is designed to promote and bring attention to the contributions of the Gullah Geechee people's history, culture, traditions and their sweetgrass basket art form that originated in Mount Pleasant and continues to exist in our town and surrounding communities today. Additionally, the Sweetgrass Festival provides an opportunity for engagement, interaction and exposure to the Gullah Geechee people's culture. Informative and interesting educational sessions will enlighten and entertain participants of all ages. Offering free admission, entertainment and activities, the Sweetgrass Festival also provides an opportunity for local basket makers to showcase, promote and market their sweetgrass merchandise to locals as well as cultural tourists from around the country.
