The OFFICIAL Helen Oktoberfest celebration at the Helen Festhalle is already scheduled for 2026! The Helen Oktoberfest is the longest running Oktoberfest in the United States, scheduled from September 10, 2026 through November 1, 2026.
Located just 1 hour and 10 minutes from the KOA Murphy/Peace Valley Campground!

A Murphy Haunting: Trick-or-Treating in Downtown Murphy

Not only will the downtown businesses be handing out candy, BUT other businesses and individuals from all over the area will be joining us on the Downtown Square to hand out MORE CANDY THAN EVER!! There is no admission charge and lots of good, small-town FUN! We are inviting businesses and organizations that are not located in Downtown Murphy to join in on the fun of passing out candy. As we get closer to the event, a registration form will be posted at this location. If you have any questions, please contact Laura Lachance at downtowndirector@townofmurphync.com. Please don't just show up! A spot will be assigned to you as we get closer to the event. Be prepared to pass out LOTS OF CANDY!

Second Saturday Shop & Sip

Come Shop & Sip in Downtown Murphy, NC the second Saturday of the month from 2pm to 5pm! This series of events is presented by the Downtown and Main Street retailers of Murphy, NC. Retailers will be providing refreshments, special sales, raffles, and fun.

Murphy Farmers Market

The Murphy Farmers Market is strictly a handmade, home-grown market, with crafters and farmers personally offering their own products and produce to the public. The market is located at the L&N Depot in Downtown Murphy and takes place every Saturday from the first Saturday in April to the last Saturday in October. Pets are welcome!

Murphy Art Walk

Friday Art Walk is an event located in Downtown Murphy, NC, designed to provide the artists, crafts-persons, musicians and performers a platform for exhibiting and selling their original artworks, while supporting local businesses.
First Friday of each month, from May through December, 5:00pm-8:00pm.Rain or Shine!
There will be music throughout downtown, arts and crafts on the sidewalks, performances, art demonstrations, and interactive experiences for the children. Downtown merchants will be open late, until 8PM, on Art Walk evenings. Come downtown to shop, experience the arts, listen and dance to the music, dine in the local restaurants and cafes, and explore shops, galleries and boutiques.
Sponsored by the Valley River Arts Guild at the Murphy Art Center, the Murphy Art Walk spotlights local artists of every medium. Music featured and sometimes a historical/paranormal ghost walk.

76th Annual Georgia Mountain Fair 2026

Experience the 76th Annual Georgia Mountain Fair in Hiawassee, Georgia!

The Carnival opens a day early on Thursday, August 13th and is open daily through Saturday, August 22nd.
The Fairgrounds, Entertainment, and Anderson Music Hall are open for the first weekend on Friday, Saturday and Sunday: August 14, 15 & 16 and for the second weekend on Thursday, Friday & Saturday: August 20, 21, 22.
